Asimo

Today I got the chance to see the robot Asimo at 日本科学未来館. Asimo is a icon in the world of japanese robot development. It was developed ion the 2000 by Honda. The cute appearance, awkward running and high pitch voice makes the robot very likable. Watching the robot introduce it self and show off tricks created a very real impression of watching a alive person. The significance and role that Asimo has played in bringing robots to the mainstream and being accepted as real social entities outways its abilities and real robot value. (Asimo told the kids in the audience to study technology and help us develop the robots of the future, and I am sure they felt as, if not even more, inspired than me to do so!)
